Think what a greater country we would have
if everyone lived the principles of Scouting
every day:
We would all
- be prepared...
- do our best to do our duty to God and
Country;
- help other people at all times;
- and keep ourselves physically strong,
mentally awake and morally straight.
Scouting teaches leadership, and our country
must have a steady supply of strong leaders
to assure that we will continue to grow
and improve.
As you read this book, remember that the
last phrase of the "Star Spangled Banner"
is a Question:
"Oh, say, does that Star-spangled
banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home
of the brave?"
If all of us were to live the principles
of Scouting, the answer would always be
a resounding YES!
I commend Governor Rick Perry for making
time in his very busy schedule to write
this book and to spell out the danger to
Scouting that is posed by people and groups
who want to change its guiding principles
to suit their slanted views.
My hope is that this book will inspire
hundreds, thousands--even millions--of young
men to live the principles of Scouting!
